NASA | Recent Geological Activity on the Moon

New images acquired by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft show that the moon’s crust is being slightly stretched, forming small valleys – at least in some small areas. High-resolution images obtained by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) provide evidence that these valleys are very young, suggesting the moon has experienced relatively recent geologic activity. mithsonian Institution Senior Scientist Tom Watters explains more about the moon’s recent geological activity in this short video. ….germans are smart sizzlechest…

  2. JimmMyHero

If it’s the same thing why would it matter

  3. WarBornHavoc

Plus, A german scientist was one of the main dudes for nasa back in the day.

  4. frozenstrawbs

graben refers to a down fault block rift refers to tectonic spreading zone. learn geology noob.

  5. Fenixx97

    I wanna fly to moon<3

  6. 646klein

well ive always thought that the moon must have some geological movement still since it is under greater gravitational pull than the earth by the sun and earth so it just proves nasa hasnt done enough moon research there for i put my self forward an call shotgun on the next ride up to the moon also i plan to smoke the first massive joint in space an will live stream over the net so you can watch someone whitie and chunder in the shuttle craft which should be interesting lol

  7. SuperDashRendar

“Instituion” is spelled wrong in your video’s description area :-) .

  8. nayanmalig

nealadamsdotcom said this 5 years ago & everybody laughed. NASA says it now & people who laughed now get laid.

  9. nayanmalig

moon is stretching only a little. like about 2/3.

  10. icannotfly

whomever names it first generally gets the “naming rights” to it.

  11. SOUTHCREEKSOUND

“I think we can go to the moon”

  12. firejack007

What? no tectonic plates? A growing moon? Time to rethink the Earth. Thank you @nealadamsdotcom

  13. samcerulean1412

    the moon must be hollow*

  14. samcerulean1412

The moon must be nearly hollow or composed of lots and lots of pockets because if the moon was a dense as the earth it would wobble the planet massively because of how big it is. The ratio between the moon size an earth compared to other planets and there sattalites is completely different lol. So the earth must be hollow..

  15. samcerulean1412

People should like this, its a nice idea kinda… but the whole point of being able to make manned missions is because its hard and its just not comparable to sending just robots to places. Man doesn’t just wanna look at the Planets from below.. whats point in just sending robots to places if People can never go to those places.. that isn’t really progress is it.

Because a word in a foreign language sounds more exotic, and more sofisticated.

  17. jtmedina75

    Because German has more character.

  18. nayanmalig

when things get hot they expand. moon is cooling AND expanding? then it’s growing.

  19. nayanmalig

2 years ago shrinking. now stretching. future moon exploding ?

  20. Nexus2Eden

Now isn’t this exactly the sort of work we should really be doing? Put my tax dollar here please. =P

  21. goodbryan

Because German is such a lovely ‘Sprache’ ;)

  22. Brommes

After he said “now” i was expecting the vid to get going. then “peep peep, peep peep” over.

  23. bubblewabblebla

Because “graben” and “rift” are different things.

  24. mrericsully

Graben is the standard name in geology for one of the fault types.

  25. Ultra4

    obvious troll is… stupid
